My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 3 Animation mistakes and notes lists

Season 3 is here, this means a whole new set of mistakes to find! The animation team is getting better at avoiding them and there will be only 13 episodes, so the season set might not even be half an hour long this time.
Here, I store my notepad files of each episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's animation mistakes. Keep in mind that the time stamps are based on my own videos, and therefore may not reflect accurately on your own.  Follow an episode's link to its current mistake list.


The process I use to find these mistakes is simple: I open the episode with Quicktime and simply view it frame-by-frame. Every mistake I find gets a time stamp, followed by a description of the mistake. Moreover, you may notice some notes with stars (*) next to them. This is not a mistake but simply a note I made. These are more common this time around, since it allows me to keep track of more things during the episodes.

I occasionally upload a My Little Bloopers video on my youtube account to point out the major mistakes. The smaller and more common ones are left here.

That being said, I'm not perfect: if you know of any Season 3 mistakes I might have missed, then comment on it here!

    episode 1, itune timing:
    00:15 - guard eye color change from blue to yellow
    03:17 - no yellow glow around crystal (it still have sparks tho)
    18:11 - horn not glowing (levitating book)

    episode 2, itune timing (YT = youtube timing):
    12:10 (YT:31:39) - fluttershy missing hind legs armored hooves
    13:26 (YT:33:03) - blue crystal pony /w bow cutie mark teleported back instantly before screen switch (you can see it on youtube if you pause at right spot)
    18:20 (YT:37:56) - sombra missing red color on horn

    Updated episode 3 and added episode 4.

    There's a rather jarring model base mistake on Babs: missing freckles on most of her 3/4 back shots.
    It's happened many, MANY times. The freckle counter could easily surpass Season 1's if she is a recurring character.

      WhiteHawke I noticed a blooper in season 1. Is it too late to say? well im gonna say it anyway. In the story telling first episode storybook Celestia says" and the elder sister harnessed the most powerful force" here it comes "KNOWN TO PONYVILLE" She should've said "known to Equestria"

    late, but around 8:08 during the Babs seed song, Silvers spoon cutie mark is on her hind leg as well as the absence of Diamond tiara's.

    During the jousting sequence of the Crystal Empire episode and sometimes in the distant background in the episode, you see actual background ponies from Ponyville in parts of the crowd during the faire. I'm thinking the mane six, Cadance, and Shining Armor are suppose to be the only non-crystal ponies there. XD

    I already posted it on youtube, but here goes: During the jousting scene in ep. 2, Rainbow's lance switches from the right side of her body (When she waved to the crowd) to the left (during the joust) and back again (when she talked to Fluttershy afterwards).

    I'm not sure if this would count as an animation error so to speak but it is an interesting one. During the Babs Seed song, the principal singer initially was Sweetie Belle, but Apple Bloom was animated as the singer instead.     In Apple Family Reunion, at the end of the song, there are two unicorn fillies, one of them which you stated was the Apple Bloom look-a-like from The Crystal Empire. However, after they take the picture, they turn into earth ponies. Also, the pony near Braeburn who's color scheme is a lot like Filthy Rich's pupils look a bit strange for some reason. They look dilated.

    2:58 - look at wolves shadow, they appeared to have king crown thingy, they really don't (king crown appears for GIANT timberwolf)
    6:16 - I don't understand why don't Spike just take eggs on counter in background?
    9:18 - Clock hour hand is either at 4 or 5... "It's 10 in the morning."

    01:47 - Granny's right eyelash. It's UNDER her wrinkle, but should be OVER her wrinkle.(also at 1:50-1.53, 2:09-2:12, 19:26)
    09:27 - AJ's eyes. Just look at this.
    12:41-12:46 - BigMac's eyelashes. Where are they?(also at 15:16)
    14:46 - Aunt Applesauce is a changeling. Look at her eyes.
    17:46 - Applejack.. You're a centaur?
    18:09 - Cloudchaser? Bon-Bon? Blossomforth's recolour? Mr. Greenhooves? Lucky? Carrot Top? OMG, THERE ARE TOO MANY NOT-APPLES!
    20:17 - Aunt and Uncle Orange? Why you aren't blinking? Also, why Uncle Orange is singing, and Aunt Orange IS NOT? 6_9
    20:39 - 20:43 - OMG, Babs, your eyes are so small...
    21:20 - No white part of Macintosh's eye

    Discord's episode had a surprisingly little amount of mistakes. Sure, there was some mirroring here and there, but that's nitpicky.

    Then again, I could be a little rusty after the 3 week break.

    Episode 11:

    4:02 - owl's legs is sticking out
    7:00 - no yellow glowing aura on Tank's machine
    11:33 - when Angel bunny jump at Scootaloo feet, there's 3 frames or so showing bunny ear sketch line.
    11:45 - when spike offering all animals, there's red arrows on Opal claw
    18:48 - when spike and everyone else gets back on train... gummy and owl randomly have collar/necktie appear and disappearing back and forth.
    20:30 - Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash wingless
    21:16 - what's wrong with Spike leg?...

    Volume 13 is weeks from being complete. This stems mostly because I'm focusing on my alternate project (a fanimation) right now, and aim to finish it first. Despite this, there is a chance Volume 13 will release first anyway.

      Well scratch the yellow eyes being the error, I watched Hurricane Fluttershy again and I guess it could be determined that it's an error whenever his eyes are green (most of the episode), since they were originally yellow.

    After receiving her big crown thingy during the coronation, Twilight looks to her left to her friends, but the shot of her friends show them on the right side of the stairs rather than the left:

    Ok so on keep calm and flutter on, the door on the inside is inconsistent. At 8:00 hinges are on outside right, then on next scene, the hinges are outside left. That also changes again when rainbow dash comes over to discord while he sits, because the scene after the door hinges are outside left also (in one scene it does go to the right side for hinges being on the right outside hinges)

    Has anyone noticed in Magical Mystery Cure, during the True True Friend song, near the ending of the song where Twilight and her friends are singing "see the light" and it's a brief shot with all of them, everyone has their element except Applejack, who I believe gets it a shot later. (I had a giant list of errors from this episode but it's on a different hard drive :/)

    Episode 13 Season 3 (Derp) 16:35 It says that Fluttershy has Loyalty Element, Apple Jack has Party Element, Rarity has Honesty, Rainbowdash has generosity, and Pinkie pie has kindness... It might not be a mistake. But hey if it is then... yeah... :P
